    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Here you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding Estonia–Russia transfers, border crossing points, border crossing procedures, and booking. If you require a personalized route or assistance in choosing a suitable border crossing point, the Transfer24 team will be happy to help you.

How much does a transfer to the border crossing cost?
Prices start from €300 for the Tallinn–Narva route and from €350 for the Tallinn–Koidula and Tallinn–Luhamaa routes. Drinking water, Wi-Fi and child seats (if needed) are included in the price.
Why might your prices be higher than those of other carriers?
We operate under a full international passenger transport licence (Tegevusluba nr YTL001284), which ensures that the trip is legal, safe and reliable — unlike some carriers who operate without the appropriate licence.
Which border crossings do you provide transfer to?
We provide transfers to the Narva, Koidula and Luhamaa border crossings, as well as back to Tallinn — according to your travel plan.
Does the transfer include crossing the border into Russia?
No, the service covers transport to the Estonian border crossing point. The passenger crosses the border independently in accordance with the applicable rules and visa requirements.
Which border crossing is usually the fastest?
The Koidula and Luhamaa crossings are generally less busy than Narva–Ivangorod. From 15.06.2026 the Narva–Ivangorod crossing operates from 07:00 to 19:00, which has led to longer queues there. We monitor the situation and share the most up-to-date information with clients when processing a booking.
How do I register for the queue at Narva online (digi.piir)?
Online registration for the Narva–Ivangorod crossing is available at digi.piir.ee — you can select a date and time slot. We recommend booking a slot as early as possible, especially on weekends and public holidays. We can advise on the current queue situation when processing your booking.
Do you operate in the reverse direction — from Russia to Estonia?
Yes. We arrange transfers both from Tallinn to the border and in the reverse direction — meeting clients on the Estonian side of the crossing and taking them to Tallinn, a hotel or any other address in Estonia.
How long does the journey from Tallinn to the border take?
Journey time depends on the chosen crossing: the Tallinn–Narva transfer takes approximately 2.5 hours, and the Tallinn–Koidula and Tallinn–Luhamaa transfers take approximately 3 hours. Actual time may vary depending on traffic and road conditions.
Can I book a private transfer without other passengers?
Yes, all Transfer24 Estonia–Russia transfers are provided as a private service — no strangers or shared rides.
Is the service suitable for business trips?
Yes, the service suits both personal and business travel in premium vehicles where precise timing, privacy and comfortable travel are important.
Which vehicles can I choose from?
The fleet includes comfortable, modern vehicles: the Skoda Superb, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Mercedes-Benz V-Class — depending on the number of passengers and the desired level of comfort.
What documents are required to cross the border?
The passenger is solely responsible for holding valid travel documents (passport, visa and any other required permits). We recommend checking the current requirements in advance on the website of the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board (politsei.ee).
Is the service suitable for travelling with pets?
Yes, pets can be transported provided they are securely restrained or in a carrier. Separate veterinary requirements apply when crossing the border with animals (e.g. vaccination certificate, microchip) — please verify these in advance.
What happens if there is a long queue at the border or it unexpectedly closes?
The situation at border crossings can change quickly — where possible we monitor the current situation and inform you if it affects your planned travel time. We can also arrange priority border crossing for an additional fee — please ask about this when booking.
